Spend Summer with our Sun-soaked July Edit

11 July 2023

Don’t mind us, we’re just daydreaming about holidays. It turns out our Design Team were too when they created our July Edit. Lucky for us they weren’t all jetting off at the same time, so we sat down together to ask about their inspiration.

Talk us through your colour choices for the July Edit.

Lucy: We’re getting outdoors and reconnecting with nature with this palette. Eucalyptus and Hosta are earthy shades of Green, Birch is that wonderful neutral, almost like it’s been sun bleached. And Mimosa is the rich yellow of a sunrise. All colours you’d be surrounded by on the perfect summer holiday.

Zizi: Our bestselling Pockets 2.0 is so covetable in Mimosa yellow. It's such a feel-good shade.

Is that why you chose to add sunflowers to the designs too?

Alice: Exactly. We wanted to bring those fun twists to the designs along with the colours Lucy just mentioned. They turn a handbag into portable sunshine, like Basil Street Sunflowers, so our customers can carry it with them every day. Everything has that sun-soaked quality to it.

We love the new details on some classic styles, can you tell us more about them?

Zizi: One of my favourites is Hillgate Place Ombre. Each panel of leather is hand sprayed by our craftspeople. It’s a really difficult effect to achieve, but that’s why it looks so great.

Liz: I love how subtle the ombre is. It gives that sunrise effect.

Sophie: There’s more handcrafted detail to mention on Tulip Street Craft too. That chunky leather ribbon stitch along the edges is all done by hand too. And this is veg-tanned leather, so combined with the stitch detail this handbag feels so earthy and well crafted.

Where is your favourite place to spend a summer evening in the city? And what bag will you be bringing with you?

Alice: You’ll find me at the V&A in the early evening on really hot days, there’s a paddling pool there that’s perfect to dip your toes in. It’s such a calming atmosphere. Bexley Street Colour Block will be coming with me, it goes with every outfit.

Lucy: A picnic in Green Park is an absolute must. You do have to hunt for a free area on the grass but that’s all part of the charm! I’d stop by M&S for a bottle of wine and some strawberries on my way from the office to meet friends. Museum Street in Eucalyptus would be perfect to hold all of that.

Sophie: I love being anywhere along the river, because you really do feel like you could be beside any beautiful river around the world. One of my top spots to spend a long evening is the Cutty Sark pub in Greenwich, and I will be carrying Basil Street Sunflowers because it makes me smile.

Liz: Going for a swim is one of my favourite things to do in the summer, so I’ll be heading for my local lido with all my gear in Finsbury Park Holiday Stamps.

Zizi: I was very inspired by what Liz said about the sunrise effect on the Hillgate Place Ombre, but I think I’ll be taking it out for sunset instead. To one of my favourite rooftop bars.

Thanks Designers, and see you at the rooftop bar, Zizi!
